Having a normal sex life is important to people who are married or in relationships, but it’s treated as a minor inconvenience since outbreaks can happen at any given time and many couples have to plan their sexual activity around outbreaks, which can be a few times a year. Couples married or dating should still use condoms to protect themselves from infection to the non-infected partner. Even if you’re sexually involved casually still using condoms will reduce the risk of infection. Many couples according to medical reports have not experienced problems if one of the partners is herpes positive and the other is negative from exposure to the virus.
Sexual contact should remain monogamous because open sex with other partners can leave you open to contact with other STDs, which can make herpes serious because that changes the outbreaks and any future breakouts. Couples and singles are encouraged to abstain from sex if affected genitalia areas are not covered by condoms. Herpes virus can’t pass through latex condoms if used correctly and consistently. Couples who are sexually active should have the lines of communication open to discuss any outbreaks coming on so they can deal with their sexual activity around an outbreak. Couples can practice non-coital (non intercourse sex) during an outbreak and oral sex should be avoided during an outbreak and in general because of the high chance for infection. Other suggestions are to use this stuff called Chemoprophylaxis in combination with Nonoxynol-9 that’s an over the counter spermicidal that can be injected into the vaginal canal as a lubricant used with condoms. Couples are advised to wash thoroughly after sex to wash off anything that could pose risk for infection in genital area or any abrasions on the body. Some suggest you should wash with hydrogen peroxide or diluted bleach (strongly advised not to attempt this), but it would be better to use anti-bacterial soap or body wash and washing in hot water (as hot as you can take it) and wash from neck to toes and washing with a good shampoo as well. Doing that will lower the chances of any infectious microbes present from being passed on to someone else. Since microbes can live in an unclean and sanitary environment when elements presents the space needed to flourish. |
